Kenway has developed a composite solution for marine piling installations. Where untreated wood piles are subject to rapid decay and chemically treated wood piles contaminate the environment, FRP reinforced wood piles provide economical protection from corrosion and marine borer attack and are environmentally friendly.
The Kenway FRP/Wood Pile features either an untreated or treated wood pile fully encased with high strength FRP filament wound fibers. Features include:
Driven and handled like an ordinary wood pile
- Resistant to decay and corrosion
- Resistant to marine borer attack
- Improved strength over standard wood piles (testing completed at University of Maine's Advanced Engineered Wood Composites Center)
- Lower life-cycle maintenance costs
Applications include:
- Structural Piles: Piers, Docks, Wharfs, Boardwalks, Bridges
- Fendering Systems: Fender Piles, Mooring Piles, Dolphin Piles, Pile Walls
- Foundation Piles, Columns, Forms, Navigational Aids, Containment Systems
Also available through Kenway Corporation is FRP repair technology for existing wood and concrete piles. Rot and decay of up to 50% of the pile's original structure can be reinforced with a full engineered and tested proprietary FRP repair system.
